Brookdale Ranks Number 1 in NJ for Campus Safety

Lincroft, NJ December 5, 2011 – Brookdale Community College has been designated the safest campus in New Jersey by StateUniversity.com, a site that features comparative data on colleges and universities in the United States.

In the November 22 press release, the site stated, “School safety ratings at StateUniversity.com are based on campus crime statistics as reported by 450 of the largest U.S. colleges and universities. Each college’s safety score, which can range from 0 to 100, is calculated based on the number and type of campus crime reported during the calendar year. The underlying statistics are compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

The police department at Brookdale Community College operates twenty-four hours a day and 365 days a year.  Dr. James Sulton the Executive Vice President of Administration Operations and Information Technology Services explains, “Brookdale Community College has the enviable benefit of a sworn in officer police force. The officers that comprise this force are well trained educated professionals that nurture the safest collegial environment in the state.”

In addition to the Lincroft campus security officers are on duty during times classes are in session and maintain security at all locations; Freehold, Hazlet, Long Branch Neptune and Wall.
StudentUniversity.com has consistently ranked Brookdale Community College in the top 50 U.S. Community Colleges.

Parent Orientation

Sending your child to college can be a time of excitiment, as well as, uncertainty. To assist you during this time of transition, Brookdale is offering Parent Orientation sessions. These two hour sessions provide an opportunity to present parents with an overview of the college; introduce the campus resources that are available, including the First Year Experience program; and allow you the opportunity to have any questions answered by a group of Brookdale faculty and administrators.

There are four sessions scheduled, morning and afternoon session on June 21 and August 18. We strongly encourage all parents or guardians to RSVP for one of the four sessions offered by calling 732-224-2717. If questions come up during the summer you may call that number.
